These fourteen Chinese characters are meant to serve as a mnemonic for remembering the essential points of Zhan Zhuang or “stake standing,” a practice common to the internal styles of Chinese martial arts.

This is the first in a series of Ba Gua Zhang seminars offered by New York Internal Arts (NYIA). In these seminars the key principles, tactics, techniques and training methods of Ba Gua Zhang (Liang Zhen Pu style) will be presented in a block learning format. By learning complete blocks of material, rather than the piecemeal assimilation of disparate forms and techniques, students can use these building blocks to more quickly understand and develop real skill in Ba Gua. The goal of these seminars is to make the art of Ba Gua accessible to everyone, without mysticism or secrecy.
